I am a huge advocate of always learning & sharing. Even more so in the age of AI. Sometimes it’s formal courses and other times it’s quick youtube videos.

Business Opportunities & Applications of Generative AI

Credential - Aug 2025
Stanford Online + HAI (Human Centered AI)

I enjoyed Stanford’s course, with instructors like Andrew Ng, Michael Bernstein and more, received a solid foundation for concepts. Andrew Ng’s starts out the course with his inspiring philosophy that AI won’t replace humans, but rather "people that use it will replace people that don't.”

I appreciated the analogy that AI is like the new electricity - as Erik Brynjolfsson walked us through the inefficient way factories first attempted to use electricity by just swapping out the steam engine with an electric motor. It took rebuilding factories from the ground up and radically reframing the approach.

IEC 62366-1: Usability Engineering of Medical Devices

Certificate - Mar 2025
TÜV SÜD

I earned this certificate while working a Proprio on our medical device. This gave great framework for satisfying FDA usability engineering guidelines with Formative and Summative studies. At Proprio as I led UX, I had to find ways to maximize user feedback, so separating out these larger scale formal regulatory tests and fast moving informal iterative tests became a core strategy.

AI for Everyone

Course Certificate - Dec 2023
Andrew Ng, DeepLearning.ai

The teacher, Andrew Ng, is a professor at Stanford (former director of their AI Lab), and was cofounder of Google Brain. I enjoyed learning more about this rapidly growing technology.

In the first 2 weeks, Professor Ng did great covering the basics of AI, including ANI/AGI, machine learning, supervised learning, structured data, data science, and more. After that, he dove into areas I found very interesting - product and business strategy and societal impacts.

    • Learning how AI intersects with one's current job is more valuable than striving to become an AI generalist.

    • AI will displace jobs faster than we've historically seen with new technology, but there will be more opportunities created, especially for those committed to lifelong learning

    • He proposed Conditional Income over Universal Income, which I find beneficial as it incentivizes learning

    • The AI Transformation Playbook (from his company Landing AI) that steps companies through becoming a great AI company, starting with a small pilot project to gain momentum

    • The basic workflow of an AI project, which starts with people in business and engineering coming together to discuss value, and feasibility. I classify UX/Product Design as an important part of this collaborative diligence effort.

    • There are numerous AI tools accessible even for those without coding skills

Figma auto layout isn’t intuitive but Figma’s trainer Lauren Byrne gives great analogies.

DesignerUp shows E2E design workflow using AI tools at every step from user research to mockups to implementation.

Aliena Cai gives a fast overview of Figma’s AI tools.

IDEO: Insights for Innovation

Certificate - Sept 2018
IDEO

This 5-week course was on customer insights and focused on the first phase of design thinking. I explored the needs of the people I was creating for. This included projects and zoom interactive sessions.
